AT the Hinderwell WI October meeting president Mrs C Prudom welcomed members to the AGM.
Jerusalem was sung and the meeting got underway, starting with apologies, then birthdays of which there was only one this month.
Mrs B Piggot read out the minutes of the last meeting which were approved. Matters arising were discussed. It was confir
med that the Christmas dominoes drive will be held in the Old School on Monday 16 November, 7pm for 7.30pm, cost £1.50 to include supper. Subs for next year will be £29.50, an increase of 50p.
The rally which was held at Hawsker WI was well attended, a fashion show hosted by Spantons of Whitby, was very well presented, the newsletter was discussed, calendars and diaries were available for collection from treasurer Mrs S Hunt Brown.
Mrs Flewker Barker gave a report back from the autumn council meeting which was held at Easingwold, 72 members attended. The guest speaker at the meeting was Margaret Santamu, the wife of the Archbishop of York.
Treasurer, Mrs S Hunt Brown gave her annual report and each member received an income and expenditure notice.
Mrs Prudom thanked Sandra for her work keeping the books etc in order.
A new WI logo is to be introduced in November.
Secretary Mrs B Piggot gave her report on events that had taken place curing the last year.
President Mrs Prudom gave her thanks to all members for their help and support she received over the year. Thanks were also extended to Eileen Swales who was stepping down from the committee, for her hard work over the many years in the WI.
Mrs Flewker Barker gave her report in her capacity as outing and events organiser. It was agreed that it had been a busy and enjoyable year and thanks were extended to her for all the hard work organising events.
The competition for an autumn flower arrangement was 1 J Lonsdale, 2 J Clennan, 3 Y Barber.
The next meeting takes place in the Old School on 9 November at 7pm. Guest speaker will be Mrs J Harland demonstrating a Christmas cake decoration. The competition is for a hand-made pomander.
