MEMBERS and friends of Staithes WI celebrated the 54th birthday of the institute with an outing to York.
Some went shopping and others took a trip down the river and all met up to enjoy a guided tour of Bishopthorpe Palace followed by light refreshments. Thanks were expressed to Gill Holt for organising the day's events.
This month the institute played host to a federation ramble, those taking part had an excellent walk along the foreshore to Port Mulgrave then back over the cliff tops to Staithes Village Hall where they were served a delicous lunch. A vote of thanks to institute members was given by Margaret Platt of Worsell WI.
