I recently spent a few weeks in Whitby Hospital.
I cannot find the words to express the care and dedication shown by all members of staff.

Yet this hospital is to close.

I know there are not the facilities for certain procedures, but surely the closing down of this hospital, a much needed building, is drastic.

Do we really need to travel to Scarborough for less serious treatment?

In winter this journey can be a nightmare and then there is the waiting for ‘their turn’ adding to the ordeal.

Surely it isn’t too late for the people of Whitby and district to be told their much needed and loved hospital is to stay open?

What would be the advantage of its closing?

Please Mr Editor, is there anything at all that can be done?

Mrs D Hamilton, East Way, Whitby
