WHITBY and Lythe fire crews were called out to a fire at Goldsborough cricket field on Tuesday night after the temporary pavilion was set on fire.
The crews responded to the incident at 10.40pm, the fire was left to burn out and nearby bushes were sprayed to stop the fire spread.

The wood and metal portable cabin was completely destroyed.

The cricket team has moved to new facilities at Mulgrave Sports Centre.

Goldsborough Football Club chairman Dougie Raine said it was a deliberate fire.

"There was nothing electrical in the building so it must have been started deliberately," he said.

"It's such a shame that people would do this."

Whitby police confirmed they had been made aware of the incident.
