A YOUNG Roxby snapper is making waves in the photographic world and has scooped a national award for one of her pictures.
Caedmon pupil Dani Watson recently entered her photograph of a group of curious-looking lambs in the RSPCA Young Photographer Awards 2009 and was amazed to be named runner-up in the under 12s category.

The now 12-year-old won an Olympus Tough 6000 camera, a certificate plus some other goodies including a mug and mouse mat with her winning entry printed on them.

Her mum Julie said they were invited to an awards ceremony in London on 11 December but were not able to attend.

“She was speechless when she found out how well she’d done,” she said.

Dani wants to be a professional photographer when she grows up. She enjoys capturing life through a lens and particularly likes taking pictures of nature and animals.

Dani moved to Roxby from Grimsby just over a year ago but since the move has become a lot more interested in taking pictures.

Today’s Hot Shots features some of Dani’s snaps including her award-winning lambs photograph, which was published for the first time in April in the Whitby Gazette.
