Review of staff salaries and terms and conditions of employmentThe clerk advised that the new pay scales for herself and the assistant clerk were still not yet available but that under the terms of the new contracts a resolution had already been passed with regard to the clerk and assistant clerk's progression through the salary scales. As a result it would be necessary for councillors to ratify the decision to increase both employees salaries by two scale points with effect from 1 April 2008.
Software purchaseThe clerk advised that a new CD was available from the SLCC containing the most recent updates on burial law at a cost of £27. The clerk requested that this be purchased so that the council can keep up to date on these issues.
Any other businessThe clerk advised that an elderly lady had slipped and fallen on the back stairs from Hinderwell churchyard following a recent funeral. The lady was not badly hurt but the stairs are in poor condition and the clerk requested permission to close these until they could be inspected and any necessary repair works implemented.
The next meeting is on Thursday 1 May at the parish office, High Street, Hinderwell.
