GOLDSBOROUGH'S hopes of a league and cup double were dashed after Redcar launched a stunning fightback.
But the village side could clinch the league title on Saturday if they beat second-placed Lingdale Tavern.
Rugby Club began slowly and sloppy defending led to Goldsborough's first goal from Dan Metcalfe.
The home side then conceded a free-kick and Richard Hegarty netted a second for Goldsborough.
Rugby Club worked hard to get back in the game and a free-kick from Kelley gave them the goal they needed to halve the arrears.
Goldsborough must have thought they had it won when Stuart Marsay's goal on the counter-attack put them 3-1 up.
But the Redcar side dug deep as goals from Curry and O'Brien forced the game into extra time.
Further goals from Curry and Martin gave Redcar a 5-3 advantage but Goldsborough continued to press and set up a tense finale as Marsay netted from the spot, but Rugby Club held out to win.
Result: Redcar Rugby Club 5 Goldsborough 4 AET
